Charities I heart

Barnardos Australia

For over 120 years Barnardos has been at the forefront of child welfare service provision and has embraced a tradition of innovation and holistic approach in their quest to find real, permanent solutions for Australian children in desperate need.

Barnardos builds relationships between children and young people in need and their families and the community. They promote knowledge about effective policies and programs for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their needs.

OzHarvest is a non-denominational charity that rescues excess food which would otherwise be discarded.

Food is generously donated by those with excess. By distributing this food to various charities, they assist them to better and more efficiently address the underlying social problems in our society. With this support charities are able to redirect funding to programs assisting those who are disadvantaged or at risk.

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect)

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to helping people on the autism spectrum achieve their potential. Aspect builds confidence and capacity with people on the autism spectrum, their families and their communities.

Being on the autism spectrum is life-long. People may experience difficulties with social interaction, impaired communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours and sensory sensitivities. The word ‘spectrum’ is used because the range and severity of the challenges people face can vary widely. Intervention, understanding and support provide the best opportunities for many people with autism to lead productive lives.

Australian Marriage Equality (AME)

Marriage equality is a civil right that should be afforded to all. Australian Marriage Equality (AME) is a group of Australians from various states and territories that have come together to campaign for law reform and attitudinal change necessary to allow same sex couples to marry. It remains the pre-eminent group campaigning for gay marriage in Australia
