Simple Sugar Syrup

Makes 1 Cup

On the weekend I was out stocking up for a party I am having in a few weeks when I came across Sugar Syrup in a bottle, and at $15 for less than a litre I was shocked to see people buying the stuff! I have never bought Sugar Syrup as it’s so simple to make and lasts forever in the fridge, well maybe not forever as you’ll be busy using it in cocktails and even pouring it over cakes to help keep them moist. This recipe calls for water but you can use almost any liquid you want! I love making it with citrus juice such as oranges or lemons to give my cocktails that extra pop of flavour, or if you want to get really cheeky replace the water with any spirit that you want and pour over my Simply Cake for an unapologetic adults only version! No more spending a fortune on Sugar Syrups at the shops, this is cheap and easy to make and you’ll save a fortune along the way.

  • 250ml of water (Or the liquid of your choice)
  • 250g of caster sugar

1) Pour water into a saucepan and sprinkle in the sugar.

2) Place saucepan over a high heat and bring to the boil stirring until sugar has completely dissolved. Put to the side until needed or pour into a jar with a fitted lid and store in the fridge.

Remember the secret to the perfect dish is to cook with love (and a little va va voom) xx
