This month I have decided to do away with my Featured Ingredient and have a jam packed Christmas Extravaganza instead! And It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, which is the most Wonderful Time of the Year! Thats right people ‘Tis the season to be Jolly! This time comes but once a year, and as far as I’m concerned Christmas Day goes by far too quickly. I, like most of you, like to make it stretch for as long as possible, so I start my Christmas celebrations from late November and they last long after the special day is over!
Christmas for me is all about family, friends and loved ones coming together to celebrate the passed year over delicious food and divine cocktails. We have a tradition in our family over the Christmas table we all take turns in telling everyone what we are grateful for from the year past and what we are looking forward to most in the year to come. So here is what I am most grateful for in 2013: I am grateful for the loving family (both chosen and blood related) that I have, without their love and support I would not be who I am today. I am grateful for my amazing mother who really played a huge part in looking after my babies while I was away for 6 months filming. I am grateful for my wonderful better half Kate, she really stepped up to the plate without her love and support I could not have achieved all I have this year. I am grateful for my stubbornly beautiful Sister Susana, she has always been a pillar of strength for me and this year hasn’t been any different! Although she lives overseas our constant Skype calls keep me sane and give me strength to continue to pursue my crazy dreams of world domination! I am grateful for my dear friend Michelle whose constant help and phone calls to my mum and Kate kept them sane while I was away. I am grateful to my little Sister Elizabeth who has undergone a huge transformation herself this year, I am proud of you. I am grateful for all of my awesome fans, you are all amazing and hold a very special place in my heart! If it wasn’t for each and everyone of you I would not be able to live this dream and I am so honoured to be able to share my highs and lows with every single one of you. Lastly I am grateful for MasterChef and all the people I met, all of whom I am honoured to call family! Without MasterChef none of this would be possible, the experience has undoubtably changed my life for the better and as I sit here writing this so many memories of the crazy times I had while filming come flooding back and warm my heart! As for what am I looking forward to in 2014? Lets see, there are so many wonderful projects in the pipeline, more cooking, more blogging and more of living this amazing life!
Now back to Christmas, and yet another tradition in my family (and yours I’m sure) is to eat as much as humanely possible on Christmas day, we have three meals all of which are three courses on Christmas day! I spend almost all day in the kitchen and to be honest I wouldn’t have it any other way! I do however understand that most people aren’t as nuts about food (and cooking) as I am, so I will be sharing with you all many tips and tricks for entertaining during this festive season! I have put my own spin on the 12 Days of Christmas and turning this fantastic Christmas Carol into a Festive Menu!
So come with me as we Rock around the Christmas tree, dreaming of a white Christmas, while kissing under the mistletoe and counting down the 12 days of Christmas!
Wishing you all very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
